Substation expansion project including upgrade of 230kV switchyard, two new transformers 130MVA (ABB), new substation building and switchboard 27.6kV.

Scope includes development of HMI/SCADA system based on GE iFIX software package, integration with Schweitzer SEL 2032 data concentrators via DNP3 protocol & OPC server (Triangle Macroworks), integration with protection and control relays, startup and commission.

 

Two Push-Pull Pickle Lines and Acid Recovery Plant for STELCO, Hamilton, Ontario

Design concept, preliminary designs and proposal for the design-built project by Cochrane Engineering Limited and Industrial Division of AECON Group.

Project comprised of three substations 13.8/0.6kV total of 15MVA, power distribution at 13.8kV, power distribution at 600V, six electrical and control rooms, utility power, lighting, UPS/DC power, CCTV, communication, and other systems.

Additional activities included draft specifications of major components, site investigation, design review of existing services, determination of equipment tie-in and integration points with the existing services.

Project includes new side platform, pedestrian tunnel under rail corridor, covered ramp system, parking lot, bus loop, kiss & ride, signalized intersection and road reconstruction.

The project involves electrical and communication building, tunnel enclosure, power distribution, emergency power, normal/emergency lighting, platform snow melting boilers, platform lighting and platform facilities, lighting of parking lot, access roads and intersections.
